1904年の開業で既に100年以上の歴史があると聴きます。
路線の総延長距離は30キロ、一日
の乗降客数は20万人。現在は2台の旧型車両と1台の観光用車両を含む165台の車両が運行し
ているそうです。

私も香港駐在中に事務所から自宅に戻る途中ゆっくり考え事をしたい時やふと気が向いた
ときに利用していました。車両はどれも歴史を感じさせてくれて雰囲気満点。二階席の一
列目窓際を陣取り綺羅びやかなネオンと窓から入ってくる爽やかな風を楽しみながらのんびり
と家路についたものです。季節と天候を選ばないと暑い、雨が窓から降りこんでくるなど
ちょっとした冒険となったこともありましたっけ。

当時の運賃はどこから乗ってどこで降りても一律２香港ドルでした。2ドルコインを運賃箱
